Becoming an Independent Travel Agent
What does it mean!

What does it mean

Becoming an Independent Travel Agent (ITA) and starting your own business means just that. You learn how to be a travel agent. How to sell holidays and everything that goes with that.

It could be a package holiday, hotel room,  a flight, transfer, car hire, theatre tickets, sporting events. It could be something you sell to friends and family, total strangers or it could be travel just for you and only you.

There are no sales targets, you do as much or as little as you want to. All under the umbrella of InteleTravel, you will be part of essentially the worlds largest travel agency.

How do you get paid

Once your qualified you earn money by selling travel and all associated travel accesories like trasfers etc.

Everything you have access to sell includes commision. When you buy a holiday, regardess of who you buy it from, someone is getting paid. Remeber that. Now that person getting paid can be you and yes that`s also on travel you purchase for yourself.

You earn anything between 5-13% commision on the things you sell and or buy for yourself. Out of that money you get 70%, the other 30% goes to InteleTravel. Its their relationships that allow us to do what we do.

Commissions are paid after travel anything from 30-60 days later.

Is there a cost involved

There is a cost involved.

You pay £156.00 upfront to register as an ITA with IntelTravel  and with Planet Marketing.

This provides you access to everything you need to get started invluding all required training and UK pin number .

After this upfront registration fee you pay a monthly membership of £35 for holiday sales access and  £19 for planet marketing if you do want to start your own team.

This is not mandatory and can be added in later.

My aim when I started was to save that annual fee on reductions on my own travel now I had qualified as an ITA.

I did this in my first year with sales and savings.

Where do I find my customers

A great place to start is yourself, friends and family. Maybe work colleagues, friends of friends, even different social groups.

Then there is social media, all of them. Put it out there that you are now a qualifies ITA and your ready to sell holidays.

One of my favourite ways is to just start conversations with people. In whatever manor you prefer but sometimes just mentioning it to people when you chat can get you a refferal.

Do I get training

All training is provided.

Initially the mandatory regulatory  training, which is all online, is required before you can start accessing the fun stuff.

This covers everything you need to know about how to make a booking, registering your bookings, ABTA, marketing compliance, staff travel, and affiliate companies and so so much more.

It takes about 4 hours but there is no time limit. You can learn at your own pace. There are lots of supporting webinars and information and I am there to help you along the way.

Do I have to build my own team

The easy answer to this is no. You do not have to build your own team.

Some people simply want to save on their own travel. There is no pressure from anyone to build a team.  Or even sell any holidays. You can just do you.

When I started I didn't know what the hell I was doing, I certainly didn't have the confidence to sell it to others.

You may feel differently and that's entirely up to you.

It can be something you subscribe to at a later date.
